Since last year I’m definetely infected by the Downhill/Freeride-Biking virus, I’ve been riding a lot and it was time to fullfill a “dream”… Participating at a Downhill Race. Well, okay, there are easier races than this one but to get a taste of… Why not? If you don’t try, you’ll never know…

Drove to Brixen/ITA, just an hour away from Ibk for the training session on Saturday and met some riders from Ibk. With them I had a trainingsrun from the top station down to Brixen. We actually wanted to make another run but we were taking it easy… Perfect weather on Saturday, dry, good grip, challenging sections and lots of fun…
In bella Italia it’s a MUST to have either Pizza or Pasta… So we went for dinner to one of the good Pizzeria’s and had a nice evening there…
The weather forecast didn’t promise good weather for Sunday and I was really hoping that the condions would be dry… Well, bad luck. Already late in the evening it started to rain 😦 And it kept raining throughout the whole night… As I was sleeping in my car, not a very peaceful night ;-)…
Sunday, 18th September 2011 Race day…
The motivation was quite low when I looked out the window…
Mud, everything wet and you can imagine how slippery riding is gonna be????
Thank godness the Ibk-Crew came, they were motivated, so I went with them and didn’t surrender…
A lift up with the cable-car, an hour hike and ride up to the Plose at 2500 m’s. Lunchtime at the restaurant, 1 p.m. rider’s meeting, rain, bad conditions but motivated bikers…
2 p.m. Getting ready for the start… For me and Andi it was the first ever Downhill-race, so we decided to stay behind and take it easy… Impressive: There was a group of unicyclers, also going down the Downhill-track!!!! WOW!!!!! AWESOME!!!!
