High above Innsbrucks roofs…

Sunday, blue sky, sunshine, being out on the mountain with friends, escaping from the rush of the city…

Joined Flo, Lisa & Claudsch for the day 🙂 We stayed in Innsbruck, went all the way up to Hafelekar. A short hike until we skied down the east couloir of Hafelkarspitze, then hiked up again, skied down the east couloir of Gleirschspitze, hiked up again, skied down the north face of Mannlspitze, hiked up again to ski down the south face of Gleirschköpflen…. Meant that we skied down, hiked up, skied down, hiked up, skied down, hiked up, skied down… 😉 Last hike was pretty tough as we hiked up a colouir but could hardly move further as we always sank in… So 10 cm forward, sinking in the snow, moving further a bit… Hard work…

…unbelievable how quiet it was up there (on the North side…)… No people, just us… How wonderful! On the south side, the rush of the city

I also tracked parts of the route by my cell phone but it didn’t last all the way… Trying to upload it though… but it’s not working yet 😉 and I’m tooooo lazy to take out the map and count the HM’s together 😉 hahahha…

Here some impressions from that beautiful day 🙂

Filming and shooting with the Fischer White Crest Team…

Mrs Holle meant it good with us, finally some more snow!!!… And then blue sky, lots of powder, sunshine, perfect conditions to spent it on the mountain… Together with the two Bastis and Sandra, we went to Gerlos getting in some footage for the Fischer video coming out in fall 2011… So cameraman Kenny Cowburn and Fischer Teamphotographer Mirja Geh, www.mirjageh.com accompanied us and caught the impressions of the day… Fat, fast, steep, sick lines from the two Bastis, Sandy and me taking it a bit easier 😉

The area has a lot of potential for freeriding and it’s soooo huge! At that day we weren’t the only team out for filming… Lena Stoffel, Basti Hannemann & other riders were on the mountain for filming for Aestivation… Also Eva Walkner, Aline Bock (both girls competing at the Freeride World Tour), Roman Rohrmoser enjoyed the powder in the Zillertal arena…

What a day! Another great day on the mountain!

Here some impressions from our professional photographer Mirja Geh…

Shreddin’, Faceshots, Powder…

What a day! Finally winter has come back 🙂

Powderalert and shreddin’ with friends in Hochfügen 🙂 So much fun 🙂 Skiied lots of powder together with Mankei, Sebastian, Frane, Dani, Pia, Janette, Basti & Hauni (the last four are all competing at the Freeride World Tour…) So a good training day to keep up with the best 🙂

Skiing, skiing, skiing…

Finally Winter is back! The last days have been just pure pleasure on skis 🙂

Powder alert but still knowing that the base isn’t that good as it could be… Therefor you can’t do highspeedlines and have to take it easier as it would be at this time of the year… Actually unbelievable when we drove back from the Chillervalley today, below 1500 m there is hardly any snow and it’s JANUARY! Middle of winter… The temperature remind you that it’s winter but the landscape looks really poor… The slope down to the valley is just a white stripe, left and right to it, it’s green!

Friday has been an easy going day with my friend Dani with some playing and being stuck in the so-called “Latschen”, little trees high above Innsbruck. The snow was surprisingly good, as I said the base layer is just not good anymore… The warm temperatures from the last week were NOT good 😦

Saturday… Filming and trying to get in some footage with my Fischer White Crest Teammates, Basti & Basti… www.fischersports.com Was fun, soooo cold on the mountain though! Minus 19°!!!! brrrrr!!!! I love winter but it doesn’t have to be that cold! 😉

Sunday… Hiking and riding some lines in Hochfügen… Great powder, great company, helmet footage from that day will be online in a couple of days!

High up there’s still enough snow…

Birds are singing, mild temperatures, green outside – seems like it’s already April… But NO I forgot – it’s JANUARY… Where it’s usually cold, white outside… Well, you have to take it as it is and make the most out of it…

Hochfügen one day before showed that above 2300 meters the snow conditions should be good, so I suggested to my powder buddies that we should take a journey to the Stubaier glacier… We couldn’t have had better conditions 🙂

Okay, not hip deep powder but still enough to ride, have fun and challenge ourselves… The output is great – awesome pix that show how it was…

Thxxx to Claudsch and Flo for joining in and taking pix 🙂

Big Mountain Open Hochfügen…

Saturday, Contest day for over onehundred motivated riders who wanted to qualify for the main Qualifier event for the Freeride World Tour beginning of February…

www.bigmountain-hochfuegen.com

I was on the starting list, two weeks earlier motivated to ride but inbetween then and the contest day a couple of things happened… It rained up to 2000meters, the temperatures got far way to high and two days before I had another meeting with Dr. Fink, my knee specialist, the doc I trust… Not sure yet since I’ll be having an MRI on both knees on Thursday but it seems that I’ve slightly torn my meniscus, this time on the actual healthy knee…

Having that in mind and knowing that when I ride a contest, I wanna have fun and ride a challenging face, I said NO to competing… Better for my knees…As I’m skiing without an ACL and having trouble with the knee anyway…and who knows what it was for…

It’s been three years were I sucessfully competed on contests, inbetween a few more surgeries, so that’s it for me in terms of competions. I’ll be focusing more on our Fischer White Crest Team, www.fischer-sports.com, photoshootings, filming, some skitrips and riding challenging faces without putting any high pressure on myself…

Met sooooo familiar faces, was a great day!!!!

Congratzzzz to the winners!!!!

Here some impressions from the day 🙂 More infos on: www.bigmountain-hochfuegen.com

Slopestyle skiing…

The Fön brought sooooo warm temperatures to Tirol, it’s unbelievable!!!! Can you imagine it is January and the temperatures feel like it’s already April? Impossible? No it’s not – I guess everything is possible 😉

So spring skiing with friends and enjoying the day on the slopes… Skied with my Fischer race skis, always good to go back and train on the technique 😉

Thxxxx Petra and Claudsch! Had sooooo much fun with you 🙂

…and taking pix of foreign people how they ski is also quite fun ;-)…

Avalanche Safety Day in Garmisch

How important it is to train with your beacon and keep up when it comes to avalanche safety was the goal to submit  at the Fischer avalanche safety day in Garmisch…

In cooperation with www.diebergstation.at my duty was to explain all the important know-how you need on the mountain including training with the beacon… Thanks a lot to www.ortovox.com for supporting us with beacons, shuffles and probes!!!!

No powder on sight at the moment, so perfect to train… Thanks to my friends who accompanied me for the day 🙂

…and I felt like a little child driving the new Citroen, White Crest’s new team car, smiling the whole day 🙂

Hike to ride…

Zillertal for the day… Another beautiful day together with my skibuddies Mankei, Pati and Waldi 🙂 Thxxxx guys had a lot fun with you hiking, riding and exploring new terrain :-)…

Hiked up Marchkopf twice and skied down the east face… Great conditions in that face, hardly ever skied by anyone… Long hikes for two cool lines, definetely worth it 🙂

Waldi GET WELL SOON AGAIN!!!!!
