last update in December…;-)

Snow – where r u??? After being in Innsbruck for a day, organizing things and working with my physiotherapist Stefan, www.weitblick-innsbruck.at,  I went with a friend to Obergurgl, to go skiing there. Back to some of my roots, as I’ve been working there for such a long time!!! It was really cool to ski up there… While waiting for the lift, I always met soooo many familiar people – was great to see them!!! So me, Lisi and Carsten enjoyed the great conditions, well on the slopes, off-piste – no-go, as it was sooo wind-blown, tooo many rocks greeting – they definetely need more snow for back-country skiing. Obergurgl got dumped the end of November, such a pity that the heavy winds destroyed those great conditions… It’s such a cool place to ski!!!!

Yesterday training with Stefan and then back home to Osttirol again:-) As there is way to less snow in Nordtirol, Osttirol is a better call…;-) Hopefully more snow to come!!! Skied with my sister and Simon 2day in St. Jakob… Found some good lines but PLEASE!!! Mrs Holle: SEND MORE SNOW!!!! WE NEED MORE POWDER!!!! 😉

2009 is nearly over, 2010 is coming…

WISH U ALL A HAPPY, HEALTHY NEW YEAR!!!! ENJOY!!!!

All the best, Mel:-)

Ski, Ski, Skiing… :-)

…back home in Osttirol for the Xmas-holidays… Enjoying the days with my family and friends!!! Since I’m here, we’ve just been skiing  – I’m loving it!!! St. Jakob the last two days – the first day was really good, still found some powder in the woods, yesterday it rained up to 2000 m!!! Oh nooooo!!!!

Today beautiful day, sunshine, skied in my hometown Matrei, www.gg-resort, had lots of fun with my friends and family, some great lines, the surface is good but since it rained yesterday, a bit fresh pow on top, enough to have fun off-piste…;-)

back home:-)

…home sweet home! it’s good to be back!!! AWESOME!!!!

…wow, since I’m back I haven’t even had time to unpack all my backpacks;-), meeting friends and enjoying to be back:-)

…my update will take a couple more days – it’s 1.30 in the morning, skiing today, visits from friends, tomorrow skitour in the morning, skiing in the afternoon…

🙂 Have a great day!!!! Will have a compi day soon;-)

…bye, bye – ha det bra Norge – it’s been AWESOME!!!!

…wow, I just can’t believe it, in a couple of hours I’ll be leaving beautiful Norway to go back with my Caddy, Caddy all the way through DK and Germany, finally arriving Austria on Thursday….

It has been AWESOME!!!! So many new impressions, some up’s and down’s but life without being like a rollercoaster, what would it be??? Boring??? 😉 That’s the challenge we all have to go through:-)…

…Skitour on Sunday at Kongsberg (1h away from Horten and the closest little, tiny skiplace to go…), packing, training, yesterday BB lesson, coffee with Marta at Tønsberg, cleaning, saying goodbye to all the mates and  fellow-lodgers, preparing for my last BB lesson, getting ready…

And of course, I couldn’t sleep… Well, for sure I’m really excited to go back home but the main reason was – the Spanish girls, who will be leaving 2morrow, were having a party, jumping around above my room until about 3 a.m.!!! But I just thought, last night… To lazy to get up… They are nice girls and I like them! Getting up this morning was kind of tough!!! 6.30 a.m. packing the rest of my stuff in my car… Had to wait for the cleaning lady to check me out and that was it… Bye, bye Ollebakken 20 B!!!!

It had snowed during the night, so everything white outside:-), still dark when I went to school… at 8.30 a.m.! Warming-up and the BB-games with the whole class went fine, my part was done… BB until 10, bye, bye to my class-mates… Went to the gym afterwards and now I’m off to Larvik… The Ferry will take over to DK at 5.30 p.m… Looking forward to see Stine, I will stay for the night at her place and keep the fingers crossed that I’m not gonna get stopped by the police… (still without driver’s licence) BUT I do have some copies to prove that I’m the legal owner of Caddy, Caddy and that my DL got stolen…;-)

All the best for now!!!!

Looking sooooo forward to see my friends and family!!!!! Jippiiiiihhhh!!!! That’s always the best part of travelling – COMING HOME :-)…

Skitour Norefjell…

…actually the plan was to go skiing in Norefjell, as I had a voucher to get the ski-ticket cheaper BUT…:-)

Checked the weather forecast yesterday, when the lifts open (all info in Norwegian but it said open…) and packed also my skins in case I wouldn’t get a cheaper skiticket… But it all came different;-)

I left early in the morning, drove in the dark until around 8.30 a.m, then finally the daylight appeared… It rained on the way up there, well the weather forecast said sth different but I didn’t care… 2h drive until I got to Noresund – a couple more km’s to Norefjell skicenter… On the way there I could decide – Norefjell bottom station or driving up the toll road to the upper Skicenter… Of course the low-budget version;-)… Finally I arrived the parking lot BUT no cars there, no lifts going, everything empty;-) Looked like a ghost-ski-town…;-) It was still early in the morning – I knew the lifts would start at 9.30 well, I realized they won’t open down here – to less snow… I’ve been told that the skicenter was already open, not correct;-) THEY ARE OPENING TOMORROW;-)… no worries… I just had to laugh and some will say – that’s soooo typical Mel;-)…

Instead of skiing – skitour up the mountain… I enjoyed hiking up there – starting out with + degrees – after 3 hours hike – windy and cold… Was nice to change shirts;-)… very refreshing;-)… Groomed slopes at the upper part of the skiresort, everything is ready for the skiopening tomorrow… I was actually happy that I hiked up because I realized that the skiing wouldn’t have been so challenging… Toooo many blue runs;-)… It is a cool place to ski, when the lower part is open too… During the hike up the landscape changed from spring conditions to deep winter – looked really cool but no powder up there as the rain had also hit the upper part…

3 hours up the mountain, 5 minutes to ski down;-)…

I would have taken pictures but something is wrong with my camera… Don’t know what, it’s not working – Noooooooo!!!!

So some impressions from http://www.norefjell.com

…happy… :-)

…my last days here in Norway… hmmm, at some point I’m really looking forward to go home but if I look back I had a wonderful time up here and I’m enjoying the last couple of days!!!

I’m done with my english lessons, so yesterday I just had sports… Basketball, swimming, went to the gym afterwards to train there for 2 1/2 hours. Feeling strong and good!!!! Now I’m ready for the winter!!!!

In the evening I was invited to the “Julebord” with the other sportsstudents… Julebord means Xmas-table, well it’s a Xmas party. It is tradition here that you dress up and wow those kids were looking awesome! 😉 The girls in mini-dresses and the guys in their nice suits… The funny thing – for dinner we had Pizza;-)… Didn’t suit the outfits;-) but who cares… 🙂

...some of the jente...
...guttene...
...Björne, Marthe, Marthe, Brigitte...
...the guysband...:-)
...hehe...:-)
...Linda og Jens...

Talking, having fun, dancing, music, singing,…  It was a fun night! This morning a lot of students either didn’t show up or were completely hangover…;-) They had ice-skating in the morning (that must have been sooooo funny, some girls were still drunk…;-)…) and afterwards we had swimming…

I was there with the car, just drinking coke, so for me it was hilarious to watch what was going on when the night was moving on further…;-) The combination of alcohol and snus makes people do crazy, silly things…;-) I left after midnight, drove back and decided to stop near the university, parked my car, took out my tools and well – I got it… A very special souvenir…;-)

Last time swimming today… We got analyzed about our swimming technique. I chose crawl and backstrocke as I suck in breaststroke…;-) It all went good, happy with the grades… After that I had to do the life-saving test, as I couldn’t do it on Tuesday (because of my english-exam), I had to do it today… Oh man… Hard work…;-) 4 laps of swimming with clothes on, then taking of the clothes in the water, knob in my shorts…;-) – finally made it… 8 lenghts of breaststroke, 8 lenghts of backstroke, then diving down to the ground and getting this heavy doll, brought it up, couldn’t tow it because it kept sinking being to heavy, so  one of my swim teachers had to be the “victim” – much easier! – 2 lenghts of towing him, then getting him out of the water – heavy again..;-)… finally mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, cardiac massage… DONE!!!!

HAPPY 🙂 !!!! 🙂

Weekend is here again… Will have some bye-bye parties and also planning to go skiing… Jipppiiiiihhhh!!!! And next weekend I’ll already be back in Austria, skiing in Fieberbrunn…:-)

…Fjords, Ocean, Oslo, Toni, Fun, Skiing,…

It’s been a while;-)

…Today, my english written exam – 5 hours!!!! Oh my god! My head is still smoking;-) To be focused for such a long time – hard work;-) But I think it went well, as long as I get a positive grade – all good;-) Didn’t spend that much time on studying but… 🙂

So I have to go back a bit, good that I have a camera and take pictures, otherwise I would forget everything;-) hehe…

Toni, a good friend of mine came up for a visit for a couple of days. I was sooo looking forward for her to come!!! So I picked her up last wednesday at Asker, the train station, snowy and icecold there, we went to a nearby shopping center, strolling to nearly all of the clothing shops, stopped for a coffee until the waitress kindly asked us if we could leave because the shopping center is closing…;-) Time was running by and we didn’t recognize it… She brought sooooo many good things with her: Milka chocolate, Salami, Pasta sauces and other yummy things:-) Thxxxx a lot!!!!

Thursday: chilling day… Finally some snow in Horten:-) Slept out and decided to drive to Tjöme, the cool bouldering spot where I’ve been a couple of times in summer and during autumn… It’s just soooo beautiful there!

...at Tjöme...

Icy wind, long walk along the coast, to the boulder rocks, photo session… Nice, very nice!!!

...

On the way back we stopped at Tönsberg, actually wanted to have a coffee at “Esmeralda”, a restaurant at the harbour, we stepped inside, the “welcome” guy asked if we wanted sth to eat and Toni decided spontaneous to order some fish and invited me! Tusen takk!!!! Was vaelde bra!!! Great atmosphere, the restaurant was furnished like an old sailing boat – you really had the feeling to be on a boat… It was not shaking though;-) Time flew by and we spent a long time sitting, talking and sharing stories…

Friday: Oslo… It is a cool city, Toni has been to Stockholm just a couple of days before (still was there, as she kept saying Stockholm to Oslo…;-)..) – the Swedes are cooler… Drove to “my” parking spot in Oslo where parking is free, came to the train stop, found out that the ticket machine didn’t work, waited for the next train, talked to a nice, old, local lady, sightseeing but actually more shopping…;-)

...Toni and the smiling wiki...;-)

The DoGa and the National Gallery were on the to do list but as we didn’t find it immediately, another coffee break (for me hot chocolate…) and shopping in the shopping mile… Shoe, clothing shops, more shoe and clothing shops… Norrona, HH store, Burger King… AND Toni finally got her beloved coat and was megahappy!! Looks cool on her! Back to Horten… Nice evening there, watching some freeride-clips, packing, getting ready for the mountains…

Saturday: early start, long drive was waiting – 4,5 h to Hemsedal… Beautiful scenery , more fjords, winter landscape, awesome! We arrived Gol around noon, looking for the tourist office – closed on a Saturday!, walked around town, asked for the prices for a room but decided to drive to Hemsedal instead and stay there overnight… Good decision…

@ Hemsedal...

No more hilly landscape, finally some real mountains!!! Jippiiii!!! And – winter was greeting;-)… We got there, to the tourist office, closed… So we went to some hotels and asked for a room. We were lucky, Hemsedal seemed to be pretty booked out for the weekend but we got an appartement… A huge appartement!!! The hotel manager told me he got 2 appartements, one noisy room with sauna and a more quiet room with kitchen… I went for the quiet room… After checking-in we went for a skitour… Actually we both expected Hemsedal being bigger but it’s definetely a cool place to be and ski…

Skitour with start at the hotel, nice walk through the forrest and later along the slope… It’s really weird, at 4 p.m. it’s already dark!!! However, there were lights, the slopes were lighted up, so no problem and if not we would have had our headlamps… The best of the tour was the skiing down;-)… It’s always like this… at least for me;-) We nearly “hopped” in the skibar on our way back but the hunger was stronger… Cooked dinner at our appartement, had a very funny tv-night, went to bed with the noise of the disco…

Sunday: Took it easy in the morning, packed everything, cleaned the appartement and finally went skiing!!!! It was really cool, the weather wasn’t to good but no problem! It would have been cool though, to see some of the view… Can’t have everything… Skiing day, hot chocolate break at a skihut, motivating words from Toni, great day… Skied until 3.30 p.m., actually until it got dark…;-) Anyhow, it gets dark around that time…

The P.P.-Lady...;-)
Mel:-) ...soon in new ZIENER-Outfit...!!!! 🙂

Long drive back to Horten, unloading, Toni packing, to bed…

Monday morning: early wake-up call, 6.30 a.m., good that Toni got awake by that time cause her alarm clock didn’t work… Everything in time though… Left Horten, drove Toni to the train station… Bye, bye and thanks a lot for coming!!!! It’s been a great time!!!!

…directly to university, basketball lesson, floorball and swimming, studying for the english exam… busy… but now – it’s OVER!!!! jipiiii!!!!

…it’s December…

…so after the first snow yesterday, rainy, snowy, cold – an awesome day today!!!! Blue sky, sun was shining – great!!! (at the moment I’m a bit lazy in taking pics;-)…) I wished being up in the mountains, at Hemsedal skiing… Well, at the weekend… The real mountains are toooo far away from Horten… 4 hours one way…:-( After studying for a few hours I went out and went for a bike ride along the coast… Brrrr, quite cold… It was fun to bike over the frozen parts of the ponds, always curious if it’s gonna hold me or if I would break in…;-) And of course, I had to bike over a big one and well, didn’t hold me, but my balance is soooo good;-), so I managed biking out without getting wet feet…;-) Snow-covered hills, the ocean, wow! Ok, hills, no mountains here…

Somehow I will miss those days, going down to the ocean (just 5 min. away and you actually can see the ocean from my room…), enjoying the sound and silence of the sea… But I’m a mountain-girl;-)… Time to go home to the mountains – soon!!!! 🙂

In the afternoon: exam time… Norwegian language exam… First listening comprehension for an hour, then I had to wait for 1,5 hours, to be the first one at the oral exam… It all went good. Actually pretty easy, the listening wasn’t a problem at all, it’s much easier to understand than speak… And the oral exam… Well, I was prepared… At least that much that I could introduce myself and tell some basic stuff about me;-)… So, easy… 20 minutes of a nice conversation between me and Anne, the teacher… I didn’t wait for the mark, as long as it’s positive (and for sure it is…), I’m happy…:-) After that I went straight to the gym, “training with the guys”…

Toni is arriving tomorrow!!! Soooo looking forward for her visit!!! It’s gonna be awesome!!! She has been sick the last couple of days, so we won’t go to the mountains straight from her arrival, we’ll hang out in Horten until the weekend… And then – skiing!!!! YEAHHHH!!!! Great that she is healthy again!!!

Some other good news… I haven’t been writing about what’s gonna happen this winter… projects, plans… But – I will be one of the main protagonists of the First European All-Girls-Freeridemovie!!!! Sooo looking forward!!! “Girls rock the Alps” – yeahhhh!!!! I will keep you updated on that… We’ll be out filming throughout the whole winter… First photo shooting is gonna be on th 20th December… Keep your fingers crossed for the same awesome winter as last year!!!! I’ve just chosen my ABS-Airbag. The Vario 15, check it out on their homepage: http://www.abs-airbag.com WOW, soooo cooooool!!!! AWESOME!!!!

…off for now… Good night! 🙂
