It’s December… Finally enough snow is here to shred the powder again! And hopefully still a lot more to come!
What have I been doing the past weeks? Skitouring to get in shape, Scouting new lines in different mountain regions, avalanche rescue and first aid training & of course shredding some powder!
I’ve just realized that I haven’t updated my blog for quite a while 😉 But instead of spending the time in front of the computer, I love it to be outdoors 🙂 So many things have happened in this month. Been skiing already for some times and just came back from the last two stops of the Freeride Filmfestival where our film “Shukran Morocco” has been presented.
Vienna, two days of full house (more than 600 people per evening for the screenings) and Warschau (totally motivated polish skiers in the house, more than 300 people and if there would have been more space in the cinema, there would have been much more people!)
Thanks a lot to the organizers: especially to Manfred Pascher & Harry Putz for an amazing Filmtour! It has proved that there is lots of potential and it was a great platform for all of us riders to present our films all over Europe! Thank you!

Innsbruck, the second stop of the tour was definetely a highlight for me! Full house on two days and sooooo many friends that came!!!! Thanks to everybody for a great time!!!!

Every second year my skisponsor FISCHER gets the team together to present the latest ski/boot/binding collection, talk about the new stuff and show us around in the Fischer area… It was a great get-together of the Fischer Family and it was good to see everybody again after a long summer break…. Autumn is here and we’ ve been on some really special hike & bike tours close to Innsbruck. With lots of carrying the bike up the mountain to reach the trails we wanted to ride down…
I’m always fascinated by the beauty of nature, considering to be so lucky to be alive…I won’t describe the tours in detail (will take toooo long ;-)…) even though it would be better for remembering the tours… But they are in my mind now…

I’m getting lazy in updating my blog and I’m sometimes not sure if I should write it in English or German 😉 Today I’m in the mood of writing in English 😉
10 days ago the Internation Freeski Film Festival was held in Innsbruck. It was the first time ever and a big success. Also for us because “Shukran Morocco” was screened at the Festival! People seem to like our film and it’s pretty cool to see it on the big screen… More than 7500 viewers in two days, the organizers were happy and everybody is motivated for the IF3 2013 in Innsbruck! Thanks to Nico Zacek and the whole team for making this great event happen!
Die Dolomiten, wohl eines der schönsten Gebirge der Welt. Nicht umsonst gelten die Dolomiten als Unesco-Weltkulturerbe. Von meiner Heimat Osttirol sind die Dolomiten einen Katzensprung entfernt, doch war ich bis dato nur rund um die drei Zinnen und Cortina unterwegs. Die Dimension der Dolo’s wurde mir erst bei unserer letzten Reise vor Augen geführt… Und wow, es ist traumhaft schön da unten!
Gemeinsam mit Andi ging’s letzte Woche los – wieder ab in den Süden… Geplant waren fünf Tage, doch nach vier intensiven Bike & Hike Tagen waren wir froh den 5. Tag als Ruhetag nutzen zu können. Und besser hätte es nicht sein können! 4 Tage Sonnenschein, angenehme Temperaturen, Traumpanoramen, anspruchsvolle Touren und eine superlässige, nette Atmosphäre unter Freunden… Danke für die schöne Zeit mit euch!!!!!

Wie schön ist es doch gesund zu sein und das alles erleben zu dürfen!!!!

Ausgeschlafen und voller Motivation ging’s am nächsten Morgen Richtung Alleghe. Die Jungs hatten bereits eine Tour ausgesucht, doch hatten wir nicht bedacht, dass die Bahn bereits geschlossen hat! Wie es der Zufall will, landen wir im Bikehotel Alleghe. Bei Kaffee und dem durchstöbern italienischer Bikemagazine geraten wir ins schwärmen, doch unsere Motivation ist leicht geknickt. Schließlich sind wir zu spät dran, um die geplante Tour noch zu starten. Wirklich zu spät? Silvano, der Chef des Hauses spricht uns an und als hätte er es gewusst bietet er uns an, uns den Berg hochzushutteln. Also können wir doch noch zur Civetta hoch 🙂
Es heißt wieder Bike & Hike. Viele Wanderer kommen uns entgegen… Viele bewundern uns, doch manche schütteln auch den Kopf… Wie kann man denn ein Bike den Berg hochtragen? Na ja, ganz einfach, damit man nicht mehr hinuntergehen muss 😉
Anspruchsvolle Abfahrten wechseln sich ab mit kurzen, knackigen Anstiegen… Und die Zeit rennt, schließlich sind wir erst gegen 14.30 Uhr gestartet… Doch Silvano hat gemeint es geht… Wir vertrauen ihm, er ist ja Local…
Andi…Mel…es geht wieder rauf…
Carmen…wie klein man doch ist gegenüber diesen mächtigen Felswänden…Stunden später, mit Kletter-/Schiebe-, und Tragepassagen im Abstieg erreichen wir müde, gesund und überglücklich das malerische Dörfchen Alleghe… Silvano lädt uns auf ein Bier ein und wir stoßen mit ihm auf die gelungene Befahrung (inkl. viel Schieben…) an… Angeblich wurde dieser Steig erst einmal befahren und Carmen und ich sind die ersten Frauen die mit dem Bike hier runter sind. Irgendwie verständlich warum dieser Steig nicht öfter befahren wird… Stürzen sollte man hier nämlich nicht… 😉
Danke Carmen, Stef & Andi für eine supertolle Zeit in den Dolomiten!!!!! …und eins steht fest, wir kommen bald wieder!
Heyyy… Ab in den Süden… So hieß das Motto vergangene Woche… Während es bei uns bis in die niederen Lagen Schnee gegeben hatte, war es in Südtirol noch angenehm warm und wir konnten die “letzten” Sommertage genießen…
Es ist immer herrlich die Möglichkeit zu haben, dem Alltag zu entfliehen und draussen in der Natur zu sein. Noch schöner, wenn man dieses Erlebnis mit Freunden teilen kann. Und so war ich gemeinsam mit Lulu, Carmen und Stefan am Kalterer See unterwegs, um dort neue Trails zu entdecken…

Spectacular event!!!! The best mountainrunners need around 1h 20min for 11km’s and 2000 hm!!!!
Summer was intense, with lots of work and a lot of highlights in the mountains. It’s always a pleasure when friends come for a visit in the beautiful Valais region and I am able to show them around and bike with them the coolest trails in the Alps. Surrounded by the majesty of the 4000 meter peaks it’s no wonder that this region is one of the beauties in the alps. And the Matterhorn is of course a highlight for everybody…
My two favourite panoramatrails around Zermatt are the one’s from Gornergrat and “Trift”. Both are just to enjoy for experienced bikers, otherwise you have to toss and carry your bike for quite a while 😉 Gornergrat is easy accessible with the Gornergratbahn. Although the cost for just one ride is quite expensive (46 Swiss Francs for one way) is absolutely worth it! The panorama up there is just BEAUTIFUL! And the trails down there are AWESOME! Technical but rideable, flowy and always the Matterhorn in front of you… 1500 altitude meters downhill, not bad or?
For the Trift tour you start also in Zermatt and either take the Schwarzhornbahn or save the money and bike to Zmutt and into direction of Schönbielhütte. Then 400 altitude meters tossing and carrying the bike to ride on of the most beautiful panoramic trails I’ve ever rode… Views to Dufourspitze, Breithorn, Liskamm, Pollux and Co guaranteed. And then more than 1000 altitude meters technical but good rideable trail downhill.

Nearly a month went by already since I’m here, spending my time in Switzerland. It’s now the third summer here in the Valais region and I’m still fascinated by this magnificent mountain scenery… The 4000 m peaks soooo close…
Spent the first weekend in Annency with Tom and Sandra to work on our upcoming movie “Shukran Morocco” and moved later close to Zermatt…
Seeing the Matterhorn is always fascinating me and it’s a goal to reach the summit one day. During summer time it’s to busy though, so I might come back in autumn and try it then with a friend. Will see how the conditions will be then… But we already made some plans to ski some of the real big mountains that I’m really looking for…

Just read that Fabi (Lentsch) and some of his buddies tried to ski the Lyskamm North Face but they had to cancel their accent as the bad weather was moving in to fast… Next time you’ll do it Fabi! He is such a young, talented mountain loving Freerider. Many years to come for him… I think he’s such a cool guy! 20 years – wow, amazing!
Some very good friends have been here for a visit. Dani and Iris stayed here for four days and we had such a great time together!!!! Luckily I was able to accompany them for two days and showed them some of the best parts of the Valais region. One day we climbed the Jegihorn (3206m) in the Saastal region and biked a cool trail down. The second day we drove to the Aletsch region (Unesco World heritage) and spent the day with a hike and bike mission – thanks girls for staying easy 😉 Challenging trails with lots of tossing and carrying the bike… The weather in the morning didn’t look good at all but we were there and made the best out of it and yes, the weather god meant it good with us and showed the beauty of this special part of Switzerland… Thanks girls for such a great time with you!!!!!

I’m quite often biking to Zermatt, enjoying my time there… On my last weekend off, I had an amazing bike ride alongside the Matterhorn… Täsch – Zermatt – Furi – Zmuttgletscher – Trift – Zermatt… What a cool ride and beautiful view…

The next day was quite easy, drove to Saasvalley to Mattmark, hiked up with the bike towards Monto Moro but had to return as it was so windy and the clouds were coming in… What a cool, challenging trail though…
