Biking in the Wallis region is a dream for bikers… Soooo many opportunities, especially soooo many single trails to come down…
I’ve been quite lucky till now that on my days off, on planned long bike tours, the weather has been good to be outdoors… So on Thursday, I could go for another spectacular, impressive bike-ride… The Gemmitrail in Leukerbad… A non-official bike-trail that I found out later… ;-)…
Drove to Leukerbad and biked up to the Gemmi Station… http://www.gemmi.ch/ From there I took the old aerial cable way up the mountain, to the Gemmipass… Oh man, all the people in the cable-car stared at me like I was an alien ;-)… What is she doing with her bike up here… 😉

I just had some pictures and a descriptions of a swiss guy who did that trail already… I was quite curious and a bit nervous… Because… No falling zone…
The view up to the top station of the Gemmi doesn’t give you a clue that there is a trail down… It just looks like an impressive rock face…
That’s the view from Leukerbad…
When going up with the cable-car I was able to spot the trail and take some pictures…
Wow, okay… I’ll be going down there soon… Up at the top there where sooooo many tourists and hikers but due to the beautiful view of the surrounding mountains I could forget them… So first I biked down to “Daubensee” and later on further on a plateau close to the Lammerer hut… Enjoyed the region and panorama but decided to bike down as soon as possible, otherwise I would have trouble with the hikers ;-)…

Reached the “entrance” of the Gemmitrail and what???? Noooo, a biking forbidden sign… What should I do??? Of course play to be stupid if anyone asking or complaining and go for it…;-)

Adreanaline when going down… Although the trail is secured by ropes, those ropes wouldn’t be a help when falling… So no falling zone… Otherwise parts of the trail, those stairs would lead you directly into heaven…;-)…
I had all reactions from the hikers that were coming in my direction or those who I was overtaking… Though I was slowing down and even stopping at the narrow parts, people were either complaining or nodding there heads but some were also smiling and kind of saying “wow”… A woman biking down here???;-)… But I didn’t pay attention to those people… I just enjoyed that ride and was happy to be down safe…
Great day, lots of adrenaline, happy I made it 🙂
